Nothing about us, without us.

Doing things with people, not to them.

Too much is still decided about communities in rooms they are not in. Do With is a movement of organisations and individuals who think the people affected by a decision should have real influence over it - not a consultation after the fact, but a share of the power before it.

01

Influence, not consultation

Being asked for your view is not the same as being able to change the answer.

02

Power is shared, not lent

Shared power means the community can say no, and that no has to count.

03

Already happening

Across public services people are already working this way. The systems around them too often refuse to follow their lead.

The movement

An emerging grassroots movement

Do With brings together people who believe lasting change will come if government and public services do things with people rather than to them.

How it started

  1. Early 2025

A group of national organisations came together around a shared frustration: across public services many people are already finding better ways to work with individuals and communities, but the wider systems around them too often refuse to follow their lead.

  2. The Call to Action

    30 national organisations

Their shared frustration became the Do With Call to Action , backed at the outset by thirty national organisations.

  3. March

    800+ people gathered

An online gathering drew more than eight hundred people who wanted to turn that shared ambition into action.

  4. 15 September 2026

Further events, online and in person, developed the idea of a Do With movement - and produced the Do With Charter, which launches at the People’s Powerhouse Convention in Scarborough.

Where we are going

Our ambition is to turn the growing Do With network into a movement capable of changing how government and public services work. We want to connect people already practising Do With, support others to make change where they live and work, and build a powerful collective voice for wider reform.

The Charter is the common statement for that movement to organise around - and an invitation to anyone who shares its aims to help make them real.

Please read the Charter and if you like what you see, consider signing it, and keep an eye open for future events and opportunities to be part of the movement.
