This policy explains what we do with your personal data when you join the Do:With movement. It is deliberately short, because we deliberately collect very little.
Who we are
Do:With is a movement for shared decision-making, run as a project of People's Powerhouse. People's Powerhouse is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What we collect, and why
Only what you enter on the sign-up form at dowith.uk.
| What | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Your name | So we can address you properly | Yes |
| Your email address | To send you movement updates you asked for | Yes |
| Organisation name, website and logo | To show which organisations have joined | Organisations only |
| Your role | To understand who is joining | No |
| Your town or city | To show on a map where the movement is growing | No |
| Why you are joining | Free text, read by our team | No |
We ask for a town or city, never a street address or full postcode. Organisations appear on our internal map individually; individuals are only ever shown as a count per town, so the map can say "23 supporters in Manchester" and can never show where any individual lives.
Our lawful basis
Consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You tick an unticked box to say we may email you. We record when you gave that consent and which form it came from. You can withdraw it at any time and we will stop.
How we use it
- To send you a welcome message when you join.
- To send occasional updates about the movement, including the Do:With Charter.
- To keep an internal record of who has joined, so we can introduce members to one another.
We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for their own marketing. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
Who processes it for us
| Who | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Website hosting, database, application code | London, UK (europe-west2) |
| Twilio SendGrid | Sending our emails | EU / US |
| OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) | Turning a town name into map coordinates | EU |
Only the town name is sent to OpenStreetMap - never your name, email address or anything that identifies you.
How long we keep it
For as long as you want to hear from us. If you unsubscribe we keep a minimal record of your email address and that you opted out, so that we do not email you again by mistake. Ask us to erase you completely and we will.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- have your data erased;
- object to, or restrict, how we use it;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time - the unsubscribe link in every email does this instantly.
Email hello@dowith.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
Data is held in Google Firebase in the UK. Access is restricted to named Do:With staff accounts, every sensitive action is logged, and contact records cannot be read directly by the public - only through controlled, permission-checked functions.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you by email.
